Company Party

We went to Mike's company party yesterday. It was a lot of fun! They had catered food, door prizes (of course we didn't win :( ), and tons of other things going on. We watched a juggler and a magic show. They also had inflatables, which make me excited for when Aidan is old enough to enjoy them. There were a bunch of carnival games, like golfing, throwing baseballs, or throwing Frisbees to hit a target. Mike and I both won prizes for Aidan - here he is with them!
(Doesn't he look thrilled? Guess which one of us picked which prize!) It was a fun Saturday afternoon, and I'm so glad Mike has had a good job with this company for over 5 years!

Hands

My baby found his hands today! I mean, he found them with his eyes. He's had no problem finding them with his mouth for about a month. Oh, the joys of having a future thumb sucker!

Bingo!

So I happened to look at the clock at 9:08 and thought, "Wouldn't it be cool to publish at 9:09 on 09-09-09?"

Family members, remember how I would always say "Bingo!" if the clock was something cool, like 11:11 or 12:34? Yeah, I know it was dumb. But here's a Bingo post for you!

Family Pictures

Here we have the baybee, looking cute.
Here, he is playing hide with daddy.

Getting some love from Mommy:

Showing off his standing skillz:

And finally, Mike playing coo with Aidan. This video is especially for all of you ward members who don't believe that my stoic husband really does come home from work, run in the door, and play with the baby!

Photography Time!

We had a mutual activity last night about photography. Do you know how easy it is to find some tips online about improving your picture taking skills? (Or "skillz," as Mike would spell it. By the way, be sure to vote in the poll on the side because Mike and I are having an "argument" about how to spell bruise.)

Anyway, we talked about a lot of tips and practiced by taking lots of pictures. I thought I would share some cute ones of my wonderful Young Women!(This last one is of my amazing counselor, Natalie. I know, she could pass for one of the girls!)

I am so lucky to be working with these wonderful people!

State Fair, Again!

Since I had so much fun at the State Fair last year, I wanted to go again this year. It was quite a feat to convince Mike (he thought it would be too difficult with a baby), but in the end I finally wore him down. I have to admit that Mike was right. It wasn't quite as magical the second time, and it was more work to haul Aidan and all his stuff around, find nursing stations when he was hungry, and make sure that he was happy all day. BUT, we DID have a good time, so it was still worth it. Here's a few shots of our day:

We saw the cake displays again, and I loved this darling bath time one.

We had to try on the crazy hats again, of course!

Who could forget the egg-on-a-stick?!

This house is made entirely from gingerbread. Gorgeous, isn't it?!

We saw a magic show that was really fun. I snapped this picture just a little too late - the kid had been floating without the board underneath him!

This is Aidan near a giant pumpkin. Some of these weighed over 1,000 pounds!

And this picture is of Mike the Strong Man. They had a booth promoting safety around grain bins. There was a mock grain bin with a rope coming out, and you could pull on the rope and have it register how many pounds you would be able to lift. The point was that if someone was trapped in the grain up to their shoulders, you would have to be able to lift 615 pounds to be able to pull them out. Of course, no one can lift that much, so you don't want to be the person trapped in grain up to your shoulders! Anyway, they kept track of daily highs and the total high. In the men's category, the overall high was 270 pounds. I finally convinced Mike to try, and on his first try, he pulled 263 pounds! The picture is him pointing to where they recorded his daily high. He went back later to try and break the fair record, and he did... but they didn't count it. The machine didn't always register the high numbers, so the man had to be watching the display manually. I was watching and saw it hit 278, but the operator didn't see, so it didn't count. Oh, well - Mike knows he was the strongest man at the fair!

So that was our fun day at the fair. We also had to run away from a 20 minute rain storm, we ate some fair fare, and we looked at a bunch of fun displays. I'm not sure if we'll go next year or not, but it was a fun Thursday activity!

More Cards

I couldn't believe it, but I actually found time to make some cards! Yippee! As I mentioned to Lisa, it's not so much that making the cards is hard, but it's a pain to get all the stuff out and get it put away and still have the leftover time be a large enough chunk to make any cards. Anyway, I blatantly stole some of these ideas from the magazine Paper Crafts, and they're not my favorite of any cards I've ever made, but they were fun to make!
