Productive Day

I had one of those days today where you feel like Super Woman and have all sorts of energy and end up getting a ton of things done - both work AND play! Here's what I did:
  • woke up early to scratch Mike's back
  • fell back asleep for a while and had a nice "lie in"
  • made heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast
  • finished reading a book
  • did the dishes
  • swept the kitchen
  • mopped the kitchen
  • cleaned the sinks
  • cleaned the upstairs bathroom
  • cleaned the downstairs bathroom
  • did 5 loads of laundry, including folding and putting away (which is sometimes the part I procrastinate, so I was proud of myself!)
  • sent Mike to get an oil change in his car
  • watched a movie (while I was folding all the laundry)
  • sorted through a bunch of old financial papers to shred - this is a BIG DEAL to me! I don't usually throw things away!
  • made our weekly menu
  • showered and got cute
  • went out to dinner with Mike
  • went grocery shopping
  • vacuumed the house

I realize I wasn't totally romantic for this day of love, but my whole house looks and smells great. How can you beat that?!

What about now?

What's the verdict now? (This was also taken after Mike and I went out for dinner for Valentine's Day, so I felt very full! I think I look it, too!)

Preggo Pix

Several family members have asked for pregnant pictures. I think they just want to laugh at me. :) Anyway, here they are.

I am wearing maternity clothes in these pictures, and I think they make me look a little smaller. (The pictures I took in non-maternity clothes make me look HUGE, so I'm not putting those up.)

So what do you think? If you passed me in the street and didn't know I was pregnant, would you:
a) just think I needed to work out a little more
b) wonder if I was pregnant but be scared to ask
c) come up and ask when I was due

My Parents

Today is February 7th, my parents' anniversary. Unfortunately, my father died of cancer just over three years ago on Feb. 2, 2006. They were 5 days shy of their 30th wedding anniversary. I know that this week is a hard one for my mom, so I wanted to take just a little time to commemorate my dad's life and the wonderful example that my parents have been for me.

Some of the lessons I have learned from my parents:
  • present a united front to the kids, then work out disagreements on your own
  • find your common ground and work together to establish priorities (in my home growing up, they were the gospel, music, and family vacations)
  • spending time with your kids and being there for them is better than spending a ton of money on them
  • be honest in everything you do, big or small
  • do nice things for each other (my mom would rub my dad's feet just to be nice)
  • make family prayer, scripture study, and Family Home Evening a priority
  • a parent's attitude is the barometer for the entire home
  • be willing to serve in church callings

I was so blessed to grow up in such a wonderful home. Mom, I'm thinking of you this week and am so glad to still have your friendship, wisdom, and example to guide me. Dad, I'm so glad you and Mom were married in the temple so I know that we will be together again someday. Both of you, thanks for all you did for me. I hope that Mike and I can be the kind of parents to our little boy that you were to me!

Funny!

I have spent WAAAAAAY too much time looking at an absolutely hilarious website. Of course, I just closed it and forgot to copy the URL, but go to Google and type in Cake Wrecks. Nearly guaranteed to waste some of your time!

Poor Mike!

So I don't know how this happened, but somehow my poor husband has been extremely sore the last few days. He says he worked his legs really hard at the gym on Wednesday, but this shouldn't be a big deal to him because he works out all the time. (Unlike me. I used to. And then I got pregnant and tired all the time and kind of slacked off. Oops.)

Anyway, the back of Mike's legs were so sore yesterday that he could hardly walk! He was hobbling around the house and couldn't even straighten his legs out all the way! I tried to give him a massage, and I made him sit on ice packs, and he finally took some ibuprofen, so this morning he feels a little better. It was sad and a little funny all at the same time. :) I hope you feel better soon, sweetie!

It's...

a BOY!!

Now we can start fighting over names! (Mike likes Stetzon. Or Roman. I don't.)
